Giant Recalls 2004-Model Rainier Mountain Bikes

Giant Bicycles is recalling about 160 Rainier mountain bikes because the front-brake mounting tabs can break. The company has received six reports of the tabs breaking, but no injuries.

The recall involves only 2004 Rainier mountain bikes with Marzocchi EXR Comp front forks. Model numbers included in the recall are 333502, 333503, 333504 and 333505. The aluminum bike is blue and silver. Earlier models of this bicycle are not included in this recall.

Giant retailers nationwide sold the bikes from February through March for about $850.

Remedy: Contact Giant to determine whether your bicycle is affected at (866) 458-2555, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.

This recall affects only 2004-model-year Rainiers.
